I’ve just recently started experimenting with a relatively new social networking site called Twitter. It’s a unique website where you can post or “twitter” about anything you’re currently doing, a bit like instant messaging to the world, via short 140 character messages. As you post your messages, others can “follow” you, and keep updated with what you’re posting about. You can also follow your friends and other people on Twitter and keep up to date with what they’re discussing.
I’m starting to see the potential of this site as a marketing tool as well, as you can post links to external websites which will instantly be visible to those who are following you, as well as visible on the public timeline section of the site which shows a log of all conversations on Twitter. The social nature of the site means your links are probably more likely to be clicked by those following you, which could result in valuable traffic to your websites.
Along the same lines, I thought it would be handy if you could search through Twitter conversations to find particular discussions on a topic you may be interested in, or more importantly may be interested in marketing information to. A quick search on Google revealed the Terraminds Twitter search - http://terraminds.com/twitter/.
